Job summary

Speechify is a fully distributed company building text-to-speech tools used by millions. The Platform team owns the backend for payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics across iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome, and web.

The backend role focuses on designing and owning APIs, improving performance and reliability, and automating repetitive tasks. You will work with product, mobile, and web teams to stay ahead of product needs while maintaining system integrity.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience with TS/Node.
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS/Azure or another cloud.
• Experience giving away work to enable team growth and scalability.
• Ability to describe AI-agent powered workflows and automation details.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics.
• Take on services you didn't write and improve them for speed, cost, and reliability.
• Ensure correctness by validating changes against logs, DB state, and actual requests.
• Automate repetitive parts of your role and expand what’s reusable for the team.
• Turn one-off work into repeatable processes for the whole team.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations built on top of Speechify APIs.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend architecture aligned with product direction.
