Job summary

BD seeks an Associate Principal Software Engineer to lead platform technology architecture for Software & Connectivity across the UCC portfolio, guiding multi-generation strategy for embedded, GUI, OS, security, and device-cloud integration.

You will partner with engineering, regulatory, quality, cybersecurity, operations, and marketing to ensure reusable, prioritized software improvements across products and platforms.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in embedded software for medical devices.
• Experience leading cross-functional software architecture strategy.
• Strong background in cybersecurity, risk management, and design controls.
• Ability to influence across software, systems, electrical, quality, regulatory and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the UCC software and connectivity capability roadmap across embedded software, GUI software, operating systems, product security, wireless connectivity, device-cloud data interfaces, diagnostics, service tools, and test automation.
• Define craw l/walk/run maturity steps for software & connectivity domains and align to product release trains.
• Ensure roadmap inputs include VOC, complaints, service data, usability findings, defect trends, regulatory needs, and cybersecurity risks.
• Lead architecture reviews and publish roadmap with deliverables, investment needs, and success metrics.
• Establish software architecture principles, modularity, interface expectations, cybersecurity guardrails, and reuse models.
• Provide go/no-go guidance on major software architecture choices and device-cloud integration paths.
• Create and maintain reference architectures, design decision records, platform standards, and reusable design patterns.
• Translate the roadmap for diverse design teams and ensure clear ownership across disciplines.
