Job summary

Instructure, Inc. is seeking a Platform Architect to lead the design, development, and delivery of our developer portal and PaaS offerings.

You will guide architectural decisions, mentor engineering teams, and ensure scalability and reliability across platforms used by millions of learners worldwide. The role emphasizes technical leadership, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and evaluating new technologies to advance product capabilities.

Qualifications

10+ years of software development experience, incl. 3+ years in a lead role.
Experience designing and scaling distributed systems.
Strong communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

Define architectural design and technical direction for PaaS features and platform components.
Drive development of complex software solutions with high-quality code across technologies.
Mentor and lead multiple engineering teams and promote best practices in software development and design.
Collaborate with Engineering managers, SRE, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specs.
Evaluate new technologies to improve development processes, system performance and capabilities.
Perform thorough code reviews and ensure coding standards and architectural principles.
Triage and resolve complex technical issues with root-cause analysis.
