Job summary

Nightwing provides cyber, data, and systems integration services to government and commercial customers. The Lab Manager will sustain lab functions, provisioning equipment, and maintaining access to lab environments while supporting secure cloud infrastructure for cyber incident response.

Required are US citizenship, active DoD Secret clearance (TS/SCI eligibility preferred), and experience with Linux/Unix, MacOS, imaging workstations, and VPN/VDI technologies.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
  • DHS suitability is required for consideration.
  • Experience managing labs or IT systems.
  • Proficiency with multiple OSes including Linux/Unix and MacOS.
  • Experience imaging workstations, especially Apple products.
  • Clear written and oral communication across organizational levels.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with customers and peers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide provisioning and issuance of equipment to end users and maintain inventory.
  • Provision VPN or VDI access (Cisco, Citrix, VMware, AWS) for users.
  • Inventory IT assets (hardware, software, licenses).
  • Advise users on accessing labs and respond to needs promptly.
  • Administer and maintain Apple hardware and operating systems.

Job description

Nightwing is supporting a U.S. Government customer to provide rapid deployment and management of secure cloud-based engagement kits for cyber incident response and threat hunting operations. As part of the Engagement Support Services (ESS) contract, this program enables analysts to quickly access the tools and environments they need to investigate cyber threats affecting federal agencies, state and local governments, and critical infrastructure. Working on this team means directly supporting the nation’s cybersecurity defenders by ensuring they have reliable, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure available within hours of a cyber incident—helping protect America’s digital infrastructure when it matters most.

The Lab Manager will support the sustainment of lab functions within the customer’s Lab environments includes providing IT support to the user community. This position supports the provisioning, issuing, and maintenance of IT equipment and access to lab environments as well as troubleshooting assistance to the user community.

Responsibilities:
  • Providing support as needed to lab staff in the tasks of provisioning and issuing equipment to end users, as well as maintaining inventory database.
  • Provision and provide support for Virtual Private Network (VPN) or Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (e.g., Cisco, Citrix, VMWare, AWS) to users
  • Inventorying of IT assets to include, but not limited to, hardware and software, including licenses
  • Providing advice and assistance to users in accessing and using the lab and responds to users’ needs in a timely fashion
  • Administration and Maintenance of Apple products and Operating Systems
Required Skills:
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance, and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability
  • 0+ years of experience in lab management or systems administration experience
  • Experience with multiple operating systems, to include Linux/Unix & MacOS
  • Experience with imaging workstations (Apple products preferred)
  • Ability to provide clear written and oral communication at all levels of the organization
  • Experience establishing and maintaining good working relationships in all levels of the organization, including customers, external organizations, internal management, and peers
Desired Skills:
  • Proficiency and proven capability in the following areas:
    • Asset management practices and principles
    • Hardware and software provisioning practices
    • Authentication and access management technologies
  • Experience with virtual desktops (Cisco, Citrix, VMWare, AWS)
  • Experience supporting Virtual Private Network (VPNs)
  • Experience with writing technical procedures and standard operating procedures
  • Virtualization automation and optimization
Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or related discipline; or HS Diploma & 3+ years of directly relevant

Desired Certifications:
  • DoD 8140.01 IAT Level II

Salary & Benefits

The salary associated with this position ($55,000-$106,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
