Job summary

Chroma Inc. is building a world-class developer cloud and seeks a backend/infrastructure engineer to contribute to the design, operation, and continuous improvement of its distributed systems in production.

You will work on services written in Python, Rust, or Go, using Kubernetes and Helm, and manage IaC with Terraform or Pulumi. Monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, and Honeycomb will be part of daily practice, along with building and maintaining deployment pipelines.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of production Python, Rust, or Go services
• Experience with Kubernetes, including CRDs, Operators, and Helm
• Experience with Terraform or Pulumi for IaC
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, Honeycomb)
• Experience building, maintaining, and operating build, test, and deployment pipelines
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience with production distributed systems and databases
• Passion for reliable, scalable, high-performance systems

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, operation, and improvement of Chroma's developer cloud

Chroma\'s cloud service must be a well-designed distributed system, running at high reliability with high performance, and with a world-class developer experience.

As a member of Chroma\'s backend and infrastructure team you\'ll contribute to the design, operation, and continuous improvement of Chroma\'s developer cloud.

Who you are

• 4+ years of writing and owning production Python, Rust, or Go services.


• Experience with Kubernetes, with a deep understanding of both basic and more advanced concepts such as Custom Kubernetes Operators, CRDs, and Helm.


• Experience with IaaC tools such as Terraform, or Pulumi.


• Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, or Honeycomb.


• Experience developing, maintaining, and operating build, test, and deployment pipelines.


• Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.


• Experience with production deployed distributed systems and databases.


• A passion for building and maintaining reliable, scalable, and performant systems.
