Job summary

LISI AEROSPACE NORTH AMERICA in Torrance, CA is seeking a Plater II on the A Shift to perform plating and metal processing including cadmium, nickel, anodizing, passivation, and copper strip, with limited supervision.

You will operate spinning equipment, monitor tanks, read blueprints, follow work instructions, mentor newer operators, and help maintain safety and quality standards in aerospace production. Shift A: Mon-Thu 4:30am-3:00pm; pay range shown.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3–5 years manufacturing or metal processing experience preferred.
  • Experience with aerospace plating and NADCAP is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plating and cleaning processes including cadmium, nickel, anodizing, passivation and copper strip.
  • Operate plating equipment (spin dryers, hoists, bake ovens, sandblasters).
  • Read blueprints and follow work instructions to meet specifications.
  • Mentor and train other operators and support safety and quality initiatives.
  • Monitor tanks and safely handle and transfer chemicals.

PLATER II-A SHIFT
Summary

The Plater II is a skilled position responsible for performing a wide range of plating and metal processing functions, including cadmium, nickel, anodizing, passivation, copper stripping, and other surface treatments. This role requires limited supervision and includes responsibilities such as troubleshooting, equipment monitoring, and mentoring less experienced operators. The Plater II contributes to production efficiency and product quality in line with aerospace industry standards

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Plating & Processing
  • Processing to be ran are the following: Abrasive cleaning & Glass beading, Titanium Descaling (Hot Salt), Part Washing using Modified Alcohol, Aluminum Anodize Sorting, Copper strip, Strip Phosphate, Passivation, Electroplating (Cadmium & Nickel), Aluminum Anodizing, Titanium Anodizing, Chemical Conversion (Chromate), Phosphate-Fluoride, X-Ray thickness.
  • Perform various plating and cleaning processes including cadmium, nickel, anodizing, passivation, copper strip, grit blast, aqueous wash, and hot salt.
  • Operate plating equipment such as spin dryers, hoists, bake ovens, and sandblasters.
  • Handle chemical processing of parts per customer and internal specifications.
  • Monitor plating tanks and safely transfer chemicals using pumps when necessary.
  • Support waste reduction efforts and promote sustainability.
  • Participate in and support HSE programs, goals, and required training.
  • Report safety concerns and nonconformance immediately.
  • Mentor and train other employees as directed.
  • Equipment Operation & Maintenance
  • Inspect and monitor equipment daily, report malfunctions to the Lead or Supervisor.
  • Ensure all tools and machines are operated safely and maintained in good working condition.
  • Quality & Compliance
  • Follow blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers to ensure product quality.
  • Meet all internal and customer plating specifications and standards.
  • Identify and elevate any nonconformance issues or deviations in process.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions and plating specifications
Safety/ Compliance
  • Adheres and implements all company HSE policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities and elimination of paper waste.

Education and/or Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing or metal processing preferred
  • Experience in aerospace plating or familiarity with NADCAP standards is a plus.
Safety Compliance Requirements

To perform this job successfully an individual must maintain either no facial hair a NIOSH Approved Beard as pursuit to Cal/OSHA California Code or Regulations, Title 8, Section 5144(g)(1)(A) and pass an annual respirator fit test.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic mainframe computer systems and familiar with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software; Database systems

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend correspondence and basic technical procedures. Demonstrated ability to read code/machine language, write basic reports and instructions to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
