Job summary

SMS group in Oil City, PA is seeking a Plater for the 3pm-11pm shift with a $1.10/hr differential. This full-time position may include weekend work and overtime. Forklift and crane experience are required, with basic computer skills and a willingness to learn electroplating safety.

Ideal candidates will read blueprints, interpret BOMs, and work from material lists and shipping documents. Prior plating/metal finishing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience operating forklifts and cranes in industrial settings.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret BOMs.
• Knowledge of electroplating principles and chemical hazards.
• Hazard recognition and safe work practices.
• Strong communication with team members.
• Basic computer skills for documentation.
• Prior plating or metal finishing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hazard recognition before starting tasks.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers.
• Perform advanced measuring with precision equipment.
• Read blueprints and interpret drawings.
• Operate cranes safely, inspect daily, load/unload.
• Operate forklift safely, inspect daily.
• Work from Bills of Materials and shipping documents.

• Hazard Recognition – knows / understands hazards of the job assignments before starting a job
• Communication - effectively communicate with other employees
• Advanced Measuring – use various complex measuring devices and gages as required
• Blueprint reading - interprets drawings
• Cranes – lifts equipment safely, knows where disconnect switches are, performs daily crane inspections, loads and unloads trucks, stages equipment
• Basic computer skills
• Forklift – drive safely, load and unload, refuel, perform daily forklift inspections
• Work from bills of material, purchasing lists, shipping documents and parts/ shop supplies
• Understands basic electroplating principles equipment and chemical hazards
