Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a general plant laborer to operate machinery, forklift, grinder, and assist with housekeeping, painting, and grounds maintenance across plant areas.

Candidates must be 18+, have a HS diploma or GED, and be able to read, write, climb stairs and stand for a full shift; prior manufacturing experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural experience preferred.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to climb stairs and silos.
• Ability to stand for entire shift.

Responsibilities

• Operate and utilize machinery as assigned.
• Utilize and operate a forklift.
• Plate Freezer Operation.
• Inventory counts.
• Stretch Wrapper Operation.
• Pressure Washer Operation.
• Housekeeping: floors, trash, and general cleaning.
• Shovel and clean up spills in the plant.
• Keep barrels emptied of trash and product.
• Clean equipment from top to bottom.
• Keep floor drains cleaned out and covers on drains.
• Paint as directed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a rendering facility or production environment preferred.
• Strong work ethic and high degree of initiative.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Frequently exposed to high noise levels, strong odors, varying temperatures, and biohazardous conditions.
• Requires prolonged sitting and movement throughout office/work locations, as well as occasional use of computers and office equipment.
• Must frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb or balance.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and identify potential workplace hazards.
• Requires the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
