A leading company in the medical device sector is seeking a Plastics Engineer to lead projects in the design and development of plastic components. This role requires collaboration across teams to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards. Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor's in Engineering and significant experience in plastics tooling and manufacturing.
Job Summary:
The Plastics Engineer will be responsible for leading and executing projects related to the design and development of plastic medical devices. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams including R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure product quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and execute projects for the design, development, and manufacturing of plastic medical devices.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet required quality standards.
Provide technical guidance to project teams and resolve technical issues collaboratively.
Develop and implement tools and processes to enhance product quality and efficiency.
Identify and evaluate new materials, technologies, and processes to improve product performance.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including medical device requirements.
Generate design change documents, perform risk analyses, and execute design transfer activities.
Participate in part and mold design reviews, and troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Plastics, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of experience in plastics tooling and manufacturing processes.
Proven project management experience.
Experience with data-driven analysis methods such as DOE, SPC, Mold Flow Analysis, and FMEA.
Proficient in CAD/CAE tools (SolidWorks preferred), GD&T, Minitab (or similar), and project management tools.
Knowledge of Scientific Molding practices.
Understanding of validation processes in the medical device industry.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing tools.
Excellent technical writing and PC skills (MS Office).
Knowledge of critical polymer material properties, with preference for experience in processing polyolefins.
