Plastic Surgery – Clinical Faculty

Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, seeks a full-time plastic surgeon specializing in Complex Microsurgery.

Department Specifics
  • This is an outstanding opportunity for a clinically driven plastic surgeon with advanced microsurgical training to build a robust practice in complex reconstructive surgery.
  • The ideal candidate will have expertise in reconstructive microsurgery, complex limb salvage and peripheral nerve surgery procedures.
  • The surgeon will join a collaborative team of plastic surgeons and advanced practice providers supporting a broad range of subspecialties, including breast reconstruction, maxillofacial surgery, pediatric plastic surgery, hand surgery, and cosmetic surgery.
  • The position offers the opportunity to contribute to a strong academic environment with an established residency and fellowship programs.
  • Academic appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level, commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in microsurgical and reconstructive procedures.
  • Develop and expand a clinical focus in microvascular reconstruction.
  • Contribute to the growth of reconstructive services through collaboration and innovation.
  • Provide comprehensive reconstructive care of the upper and lower extremities, including traumatic and post-traumatic reconstruction, oncologic limb reconstruction, limb salvage and complex wound coverage, microsurgical free tissue transfer (as applicable), and nerve, tendon, and soft tissue reconstruction.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in education and mentorship of residents and fellows within ACGME-accredited training programs.
  • Contribute to the academic mission through case conferences, lectures, and surgical instruction.
  • Participate in scholarly activity and national presentations as appropriate.
  • Inpatient clinical care will take place at Rush University Medical Center and Rush Oak Park Hospital. Outpatient care will be delivered at Rush specialty clinics at Rush University Medical Center and Rush North & Harlem, with access to advanced practice provider support and multidisciplinary services.
  • Participate in shared call coverage within the Division of Plastic Surgery; rotation is split among the providers and averages one week every 2-3 months.
Qualifications
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Plastic Surgery residency.
  • Fellowship training in Microsurgery required.
  • American Board of Plastic Surgery certification or eligibility.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Illinois.
  • Demonstrated expertise and interest in teaching and academic development.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $350,000 - $698,000

Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs. The total pay range reflects various factors including experience and training. Opportunities for increased compensation based on exceeding productivity targets. Comprehensive benefits package available.
