Job summary

The City of New York is seeking a skilled Plasterer to apply plastering materials under supervision. Responsibilities include preparing and applying various plastering materials, supervising personnel, and maintaining work records. Job description

Under supervision, prepare and apply plastering materials to interior and exterior surfaces; perform related work. Examples of typical tasks include:

  1. Prepare and apply all plastering materials, including Fireproofing, Soundproofing, Cement Stucco, E.I.F.S. Stucco, etc.
  2. Use a hawk and trowel to apply plastering materials to walls, ceilings, piers, and columns.
  3. Plaster partition walls and patch damaged plaster walls.
  4. Tape and repair damaged sheetrock walls.
  5. Set up and work on scaffolds.
  6. Follow plans and specifications in work execution.
  7. Maintain records of work performed.
  8. Supervise assigned personnel.

Note: Travel within the assigned neighborhood, including Brooklyn neighborhoods such as Albany, Gowanus, Red Hook East, Red Hook West, and Wyckoff Gardens, is required with frequency determined by the Neighborhood Administrator.

Please ensure you meet the minimum qualifications before applying.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of full-time satisfactory plastering experience, or
  • At least 1.5 years of full-time plastering experience plus sufficient apprenticeship or vocational training to total three years of experience. Six months of acceptable experience counts for each year of apprenticeship or relevant training.
