Job summary

BARNES AEROSPACE - WARREN is seeking an experienced plasma-spraying technician to join our aerospace coating team. You will apply coatings, set up systems, and ensure quality per specifications. You will read blueprints and manuals, work with Engineering to develop spray parameters, and maintain tools and fixtures.

A high school diploma and hands-on coating experience are required. On-site role in Warren, MI offering steady hours, safety training, and opportunities to grow in advanced surface

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in plasma spraying, aerospace environment preferred.
• Experience with Robotic Plasma Gun systems and ABB robotics.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documents.
• Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Plan, set up, and spray parts to meet production requirements.
• Mask and grit blast parts to prepare for coating.
• Interpret work orders, engine manuals, and blueprints to determine operations and sequence.
• Collaborate with Engineering to develop plasma spray programs, determine parameters, and tooling ideas.
• Ensure use of proper fixtures and tools; maintain inventory and requisition materials as needed.

Your Expertise:

• 3+ years’ experience plasma spraying; aerospace environmentpreferred
• Knowledge/Practical use and programming abilities of Robotic Plasma Gun (SulzerMetcoMulti Coat Sprayer System and ABB 2400 Series Robot)
• Good mathematical skills
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technicaldocuments
• Skills Desired: strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, good communicationsskills

• Perform a variety of duties to plan, set up, and spray parts to meet production requirements. Mask and/or grit blast part to prepare for coating. Use judgment in determining proper flow and speed of spray for the best results and compliance with all specifications.
• Interpret work orders, engine manuals, and blueprints to determine information such as type of operations, and sequence of operations required.
• Work with Engineering to develop plasma spray programs, determine new methods, develop parameters, and determine material type for new or modified products. Assist with new tooling ideas.
• Ensure use of proper fixtures and tools; maintain adequate inventory levels of material to meet production goals. Requisition materials and tooling as required.
