Job summary

CSL in Norman, OK seeks a healthcare professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and to provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff. Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must be licensed as a physician or state certification as an EMT.
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO or in reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication or treatments per licensure or certification.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donor suitability.
• Respond to medically related questions with the Center Medical Director and provide information on donor suitability.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms that may prevent donation.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer donors to community facilities for follow-up and counseling.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local medical service providers as required.
