Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) in Texas. The role ensures donor eligibility, screens biology results, and supports center operations under physician and manager guidance.

Responsibilities include managing donor safety, reactions, and laboratory–related processes in a clinical setting. The candidate will assist with vaccination programs, occupational health issues, and OSHA/EHS guidelines, reporting to the Center Manager and BioLife Medical

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate nursing program
• Active RN/NP/PA licensure in the hiring state
• Current CPR and AED certification
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
• Complete BioLife Medical Support Specialist FDA training requirements
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance criteria, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs, including standing orders and donor transport to emergency facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation; follow EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemic threats.
