Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations and donor safety. You will determine donor eligibility, review test results, and manage donor adverse events under supervision of the Center Manager and Center Physician.

The role requires appropriate state licensures, CPR/AED, and clinical experience. You will collaborate with Medical Affairs and EHS, support vaccination programs, and assist with regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state for EMT-B/A/I/P, LPN/LVN or RN.
• CPR and AED certification.
• State requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs, including center physician standing orders and donor transport.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees where applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation with EHS guidance.
• Possibly act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations in the local community.
