Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program
• Current licensure/certification as physician or RN/MD/DO or EMT as applicable by state
• Minimum of one year relevant health care experience
• Experience in plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred
• Ability to assess heart and lung sounds and detect signs of drug use

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures under general supervision
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication per licensure
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donor suitability
• In conjunction with Center Medical Director, respond to medically related questions and provide information on donor suitability
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess symptoms affecting donation
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer to facilities for follow-up
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local providers as required
