The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is seeking a Plant Utilities Maintenance Supervisor to oversee daily operations at OCOTILLO Water Reclamation Facility and Pecos Water Treatment Plant. This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits and requires availability on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Ideal candidates will have an engineering/public administration background and supervisory experience, managing schedules, budgets, and resources while using EAMS to plan

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Public Administration or related field.
• ADEQ Grade 2 Water or Wastewater Certification required for assignment.
• ADEQ Grade 1 certification in a second discipline within 1 year.
• 2 years of lead or supervisory experience; driving record acceptable.

Responsibilities

The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as aPlant Utilities Maintenance Supervisor. This is a full-time, salary-exempt position with benefits. Openings are currently available at two locations:

• Ocotillo Water Reclamation Facility (OWRF). The schedule is Monday - Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM.

• Pecos Water Treatment Plant (WTP). The schedule is Monday - Friday, 6 AM to 2:30 PM. However, because the plant operates 365 days a year, the supervisor must be available on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

Who we are

Chandler was the first city in Arizona to receive accreditation of our water and wastewater operations by the American Public Works Association, the toughest accreditation to achieve in the industry. The Utilities Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City's water treatment plant, 32 water wells, and 19 booster station facilities, and shares another water plant with the Town of Gilbert. The Utility also operates wastewater and reclaimed water infrastructure, including industrial wastewater/ brine reduction and three wastewater facilities. We treat over 64 million gallons of fresh water and treat over 30 million gallons of wastewater per day to class A+ reclaimed water to meet irrigation and industrial demands. Our water is received from four primary water sources: Salt River, Verde River, Colorado River and ground water supplied by our extensive well field facilities. We also use advanced treatment processes to recycle over 7 million gallons of industrial wastewater and return it back for industrial reuse. Service is provided to the City of Chandler residential, commercial, and industrial users by a network of 1,224 miles of active water mains, 942 miles of active sewer mains, and 92 miles of reclaimed water mains.

Who we are looking for

Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are seeking a supervisor to oversee the daily operations by setting goals and objectives, managing schedules and work priorities, monitoring and evaluating performance, facilitating access to resources and training, providing guidance and addressing issues, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions. This position will also monitor the budget, schedule maintenance, inspect work, and plan equipment needs, utilizing the citywide Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS).

Minimum qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Public Administration or in a related field; and
• 4 years of experience in the operations and/or maintenance of water or wastewater treatment plants (or related system facilities) or electrical or instrumentation in an industrial environment including at least 2 years of experience using an Enterprise Asset Management System (work order/asset); and
• 2 years of lead or supervisory experience; and
• A 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification within 1 year of hire or promotion; and
• An ADEQ Grade 2 Water or Wastewater Treatment Certification (depending on assignment) upon hire or promotion; and
• An ADEQ Grade 1 certification in a second discipline within 1 year of hire or promotion; and
• A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications

• Prior inventory system work experience
• Prior work experience with budget management

This is a regular full-time exempt position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.
