Base pay range

$56,506.00/yr - $68,630.00/yr

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Plant Utilities Engineer 1, you will be responsible for:

  • Operating, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and mechanical equipment inside and outside the physical plant
  • Cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining boilers
  • Responding to mechanical, electrical, or plumbing calls and troubleshooting repairs
  • Conducting testing of boilers, HVAC, and water systems, analyzing results, and adjusting chemicals as needed
Qualifications

Candidates from outside or within State service may qualify through various credentials, including:

  • Completion of relevant apprenticeship programs or military technical training
  • Possession of licenses such as High-Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer or Stationary Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities, Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering
  • Experience in maintenance and operation of HVAC systems or boilers

Additional qualifications include completion of technical certificates and experience in digital energy platforms and building analytics.
