Plant Technician-FGD Wastewater Treatment Operator (Brandon Shores Plant)

Overview

Talen Energy is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Plant Technician-FGD Wastewater Treatment Operator at the Brandon Shores facility in Baltimore, MD. The role involves operating and maintaining the FGD Wastewater Treatment Plant and Raw Water systems, ensuring environmental compliance, and supporting plant operations.

Responsibilities
  1. Operate and shut down the wastewater treatment and raw water systems using remote controls and VDTs.
  2. Manage flow rates and chemical handling, including unloading bulk trailers and totes.
  3. Perform routine sampling, lab analysis, and plant rounds.
  4. Support maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  5. Ensure safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out procedures.
Qualifications
  • Post-high school courses in engineering mathematics, physical science, or technical studies.
  • Minimum five years' experience in industrial wastewater treatment.
  • Valid driver’s license; MDE Class 7 Industrial Wastewater license; DOT Hazmat certification.
Physical & Environmental Conditions

Must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in outdoor and indoor environments, with physical demands such as lifting, climbing, and working at heights.
