Job summary

Luminant Power LLC in San Marcos, Texas is seeking a Plant Operator/Technician who will operate plant equipment and possess basic knowledge of plant systems in compliance with environmental regulations. The role works under guidance from senior technicians to ensure safe, reliable operation.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, daily repairs, and supporting equipment installation while adhering to strict safety procedures and 12-hour rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
• Demonstrate standard computer-based skills.
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills.
• Plant Operations Selection System/POSS required for consideration.
• PT1-E may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with troubleshooting of plant equipment and perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning.
• Perform daily maintenance, construction, demolition, overhauls, repair/replacement and installation of plant equipment and structures.
• Operate equipment and support safe and productive work environments using various hand, power, or machine tools.
• Maintain knowledge of electronic control systems and computers used in plant operations.
• Follow safety and environmental regulations including Lockout Tagout, JSA, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE.

Responsible for basic operational knowledge of all plant systems and perform operation of the equipment within specification and environmental regulations and will work under the direction of skilled Plant Technicians.
Responsible for continuing to learn the proper function, operation, and perform maintenance of equipment at a Gas Plant for the Gas fleet. Responsible for promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation.

Key Accountabilities:

• Required duties depend upon the particular field requiring skills for advancement.
• Assisting/performing troubleshooting of plant equipment, preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning, daily maintenance, construction, demolition, overhauls, repair /replacement and removal/installation of plant equipment and structures.
• Ability to work rotating shifts
• Provides skills for maintaining equipment at the plant
• Perform clearances in LOTOV under the direction of a senior operator or supervisor
• Utilizes/operates various types of hand, power, precision or machine tools necessary to support safe and productive work environments.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all electronic control systems and computers
• Understands and follows current safety and environmental regulations necessary to conduct all phases of work
• Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE

*** Level of position will be determined by applicable education and skills/experience

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

• 1-4 years of power plant or related experience
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 1 job performance measures composed of basic: Operations, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrument and Controls
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts
• Demonstrate standard computer-based skills
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills
• Applicant will be required to successfully complete the following to be considered for the position: Plant Operations Selection System/Plant Maintenance Positions Selection System (Poss/Mass)
• If applicable, candidate must meet the requirement of PT1-E

Key Metrics:

• Progression of skill within primary skill set.
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 2 job performance measures predominately composed of Sign-offs of demonstrating different primary and auxiliary system operations and maintenance relevant to primary skill.
• Demonstrate continual self improvement in job skills and knowledge.
