Job Summary
Title: Plant Technician – 2nd shift (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm) Monday‑Friday and Plant Technician – 3rd shift (11:00 pm – 7:30 am) Sunday‑Thursday. Location: New Bethlehem, PA. Reports to: Area Leader.
Responsibilities
- Contribute within a highly functioning team.
- Responsible for the manufacture of consumer foods that comply with all food safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Understand and support company safety policies and perform work safely.
- Operate, maintain, and clean assigned production equipment.
- Follow and improve documented operational, maintenance, and sanitation standards in a GMP work environment.
- Identify and correct equipment defects.
- Perform cleaning, inspection, and lubrication (CIL) activities.
- Identify and troubleshoot basic machinery and process issues.
- Perform basic repair and maintenance activities.
- Perform sanitation activities regularly.
- Perform equipment changeovers.
- Operate material‑handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
- Create or update documentation such as SOPs, Job Aids, and CIL improvements.
- Use continuous improvement tools to reduce losses, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Use basic hand tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, drills, grinders, and related tools.
- Analyze information using principles of math and statistics.
- Assist in solving problems through analytical troubleshooting, critical thinking, and root‑cause analysis.
- Work in a team and assist fellow employees as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High‑school degree or equivalent is required.
- A two‑year or technical degree is preferred.
- Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Able to work afternoon shifts and overtime as needed.
- Able to read, understand, and follow documents such as safety policies, SOPs, GMPs, and general instructions.
- Able to understand both oral and written instructions.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to give and receive feedback.
- Able to set and meet goals.
- Able to work independently and on a team.
- Works well with support personnel to maintain high standards for safety, quality, and reliability and drive improvements.
- Able to make data‑driven decisions and engage others as appropriate.
- Basic computer skills including email and Microsoft Office.
- Able to learn company‑specific computer systems.
- Able to perform the key responsibilities in accordance with safety standards and practices.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, sit, walk, push, pull, kneel, squat, climb.
- Perform repetitive actions, reach, and feel.
- Hear, speak, and see.
