Job summary

Coastal Waste & Recycling is seeking a Plant Technician to maintain the buildings, equipment, and grounds at our waste and recycling facility. You will perform preventive maintenance, light welding, and repairs to keep systems running smoothly and safely.

The role emphasizes hands-on mechanical and electrical tasks, operating tools, and coordinating with external contractors to minimize downtime, while upholding a strong safety culture and team-based approach.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in facility or equipment maintenance.
• Experience in waste, recycling, or manufacturing preferred.
• Basic electrical and mechanical repair knowledge.
• Ability to safely operate tools.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems, machinery, and equipment.
• Inspect and repair machine belting, bearings, and rollers.
• Assist with maintenance of stationary equipment such as conveyors and sorting lines.
• Conduct light welding repairs as needed.
• Support operations by promptly responding to maintenance requests to minimize downtime.
• Maintain safe work areas by ensuring walkways, exits, and emergency systems are functional and clear of hazards.
• Operate small equipment and power tools in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Coordinate with outside contractors for specialized repairs or projects.
• Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment or facility issues to management.

Your Role

The Plant Technician is responsible for maintaining the buildings, equipment, and grounds at our waste and recycling facility. You'll help ensure the site remains safe, clean, and fully operational by performing preventive maintenance, light welding, repairs, and general upkeep on facility systems and infrastructure.

What You'll Bring

• Two (2) or more years of facility, industrial, or equipment maintenance experience required.

• Experience in the waste, recycling, or manufacturing industry preferred.

• Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical repair.

• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and commitment to workplace safety.

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
