Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company in Bethlehem, PA is hiring Plant Technicians for 2nd shift (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm, Mon–Fri) or 3rd shift (11:00 pm – 7:30 am, Sun–Thu).

You will support safe, quality food production and work within a collaborative team to operate and maintain production equipment, follow SOPs, and contribute to continuous improvement. Requires a high-school degree; a 2-year technical degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Strong reading comprehension of SOPs, GMPs and safety policies.
  • Ability to learn company systems and follow written instructions.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to support a collaborative plant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain and clean assigned production equipment safely.
  • Follow GMP, SOPs and safety policies; identify unsafe conditions.
  • Identify and correct equipment defects and assist in basic repairs.
  • Perform sanitation, cleaning-in-place activities and documentation updates.
  • Operate forklifts/hand trucks and support material handling tasks.
  • Use data to drive improvements and participate in root-cause analysis.

Recognizes unsafe work conditions, coaches peers, and suggests new safety standards as appropriate.* Performs the necessary activities to operate, maintain, and clean assigned production equipment.* Understands, follows, and improves documented operational, maintenance, and sanitation standards in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) work environment.* Identifies and corrects equipment defects.* Performs cleaning, inspection, and lubrication (CIL) activities.* Identifies and troubleshoots basic machinery and process issues.* Learns and performs basic repair and maintenance activities.* Performs sanitation activities on a regular basis.* Performs equipment changeovers.* Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.* Creates or updates documentation as needed (SOPs, Job Aids, CIL Improvements).* Uses continuous improvement tools to eliminate losses and drive issues to root cause; documents, communicates, and implements corrective and preventative actions.* Use basic hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, drills, grinders, etc.* Analyzes information using principles of math and statistics.* Assists in solving problems using analytical troubleshooting, critical thinking and root cause analysis.* Works as part of a team and assists fellow employees as needed.* Other duties as assigned.**The Right Role for You**Are you motivated by the chance to help provide quality products consumers count on every day?
