Plant Support/Wiring Engineer
What You Will Do:
- Responsible for the hardware design & release of closure ECUs for HMC vehicle programs.
- Learn (via training) the HMC program deliverables & milestones for respective vehicle programs; align ECU design timing to the overall vehicle program timing.
- Establish a DV/PV test plan for design components.
- Support the supplier selection process & component specification requirements development.
- Establish component design & development timing plan.
- Ensure timely meeting of design milestones & deliverables.
- Track all issues related to the design/development of the component - ensure resolution (with root cause & corrective action) & document lessons learned.
- Lead/support meetings with R&D colleagues, component suppliers, and/or cross-functional teams.
- Support on-site production activities in NA manufacturing facilities (when applicable).
- Create and present reports for management to review, including project status and delivery success metrics.
- Drive innovation by staying current with new technology and competitive products.
- Provide technical support for body electronics-related concerns for pre-production and post-production issues.
- Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.
What You Will Bring to the Role:
- Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of automotive engineering experience.
- Experience with engineering projects related to vehicle electronics components design and development.
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical architectures & systems design.
- Electrical circuit knowledge or design experience.
- Experience & knowledge of electrical component specification development.
- Understanding and creating electrical component timing & test plans.
- Working knowledge of CAN communication protocol.
- Experience in root cause analysis & corrective action plans for electrical systems & components.
- Good written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop relationships with tech experts from the Korea R&D Center and internal teams.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Effective time management and organization skills.
- Proficient self-management skills.
- Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field.
- Experience and understanding of ECU hardware/software design, vehicle electronic architectures & systems, network bus communication, wiring/connectors, DV/PV testing, and supplier management.
- Flexibility to adapt to program and process changes, including late modifications by Hyundai/Kia/Genesis.
- Experience with electrical hardware packaging (e.g., CATIA or similar CAD systems).
