Job description

Plant Support/Wiring Engineer

What You Will Do:

  1. Responsible for the hardware design & release of closure ECUs for HMC vehicle programs.
  2. Learn (via training) the HMC program deliverables & milestones for respective vehicle programs; align ECU design timing to the overall vehicle program timing.
  3. Establish a DV/PV test plan for design components.
  4. Support the supplier selection process & component specification requirements development.
  5. Establish component design & development timing plan.
  6. Ensure timely meeting of design milestones & deliverables.
  7. Track all issues related to the design/development of the component - ensure resolution (with root cause & corrective action) & document lessons learned.
  8. Lead/support meetings with R&D colleagues, component suppliers, and/or cross-functional teams.
  9. Support on-site production activities in NA manufacturing facilities (when applicable).
  10. Create and present reports for management to review, including project status and delivery success metrics.
  11. Drive innovation by staying current with new technology and competitive products.
  12. Provide technical support for body electronics-related concerns for pre-production and post-production issues.
  13. Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.

What You Will Bring to the Role:

  1. Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field.
    • 3+ years of automotive engineering experience.
    • Experience with engineering projects related to vehicle electronics components design and development.
    • Knowledge of vehicle electrical architectures & systems design.
    • Electrical circuit knowledge or design experience.
    • Experience & knowledge of electrical component specification development.
    • Understanding and creating electrical component timing & test plans.
    • Working knowledge of CAN communication protocol.
    • Experience in root cause analysis & corrective action plans for electrical systems & components.
    • Good written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop relationships with tech experts from the Korea R&D Center and internal teams.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Effective time management and organization skills.
    • Proficient self-management skills.
    • Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
  2. Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in electrical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field.
    • Experience and understanding of ECU hardware/software design, vehicle electronic architectures & systems, network bus communication, wiring/connectors, DV/PV testing, and supplier management.
    • Flexibility to adapt to program and process changes, including late modifications by Hyundai/Kia/Genesis.
    • Experience with electrical hardware packaging (e.g., CATIA or similar CAD systems).
