Job summary

ATACO Steel Products Corp. is seeking a hands-on Plant Supervisor to provide day-to-day leadership to our production team in a union environment in Cedarburg, WI. This salaried role emphasizes people leadership, coaching, and a strong on-floor presence.

The supervisor will maintain continuity across shifts, coach employees, ensure safety and quality, and coordinate with Plant Manager, HR, Quality, Engineering and Maintenance to resolve issues. Expect ~45 hours/week with early schedules.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership and direction to production employees across both shifts.
• Maintain a consistent presence on the production floor and connect shifts.
• Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, and productivity.
• Prioritize and direct daily work based on production needs.
• Communicate priorities between shifts and departments.
• Monitor production performance including productivity and quality.
• Address production, staffing, quality, and safety concerns promptly.
• Coordinate use of people, equipment, and materials.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflow and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality standards and policies.
• Collaborate with Plant Manager, HR, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance to resolve issues.
• Participate in interviewing, onboarding, training and evaluations.
• Identify training needs and provide tools for success.
• Recognize strong performance and address conduct consistently.
• Support and reinforce ATACO's Amazing Fundamentals.

Location: Cedarburg, WI
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, approximately 6:00 AM–4:00 PM, with a half day Friday; approximately 45 hours per week
Reports To: Plant Manager

About the Role

ATACO Steel Products Corp. is seeking a hands-on Plant Supervisor to provide day-to-day leadership and direction to our production team in a union manufacturing environment.

This position is designed to provide leadership continuity across both production shifts. The Plant Supervisor will maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor, build relationships with employees, establish clear expectations, coach and develop the team, and ensure consistent communication and accountability throughout the operation.

While manufacturing experience is important, this position is primarily a people leadership role. We are looking for someone who knows how to lead employees, address issues directly and professionally, and create an environment where employees have the direction, resources, and accountability needed to succeed.

What You’ll Do

• Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and direction to production employees across both shifts.
• Maintain a consistent presence on the production floor and serve as a leadership connection between shifts.
• Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and workplace conduct.
• Prioritize, assign, and direct daily work based on production requirements and changing business needs.
• Communicate production priorities, staffing concerns, and other important information between shifts and departments.
• Monitor production performance, including productivity, labor efficiency, scrap, downtime, quality, and schedule attainment.
• Identify and address production, staffing, quality, and safety concerns in a timely manner.
• Coordinate the effective use of employees, equipment, materials, and other resources.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflow, processes, productivity, and overall efficiency.
• Ensure employees follow company safety requirements, quality standards, policies, procedures, work rules, and applicable collective bargaining agreement requirements.
• Partner closely with the Plant Manager, Human Resources, Quality, Production Control, Engineering, and Maintenance to resolve employee and operational issues.
• Participate in interviewing, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and employee development.
• Identify employee training and development needs and ensure employees have the tools and resources necessary to perform successfully.
• Recognize strong performance while addressing performance, attendance, and conduct concerns consistently and promptly.
• Support and reinforce ATACO's Amazing Fundamentals.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous supervisory, leadership, or lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong people leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
• Clear and professional communication skills.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Experience handling employee performance and workplace concerns.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• General understanding of manufacturing operations, safety, quality, and production processes.
• Experience in metal stamping, fabrication, welding, machining, or a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Experience working in a union manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Basic computer skills; experience working with ERP or manufacturing systems is a plus.

Schedule

This is a salaried position expected to work approximately 45 hours per week.

The typical schedule is Monday through Thursday, approximately 6:00 AM–4:00 PM, with a half day Friday. The schedule is structured to provide leadership coverage and continuity across both production shifts.

Flexibility may occasionally be required based on staffing, production needs, or other operational priorities.

This position requires significant time on the manufacturing floor and regular interaction with production employees. The work environment includes machinery, noise, fumes, airborne particles, and other conditions typical of a metal manufacturing facility. Required PPE must be worn while on the shop floor.
