Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience leading manufacturing teams in a processing facility.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; bilingual preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage budgets and timelines.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily facility operations, production schedules, and safety.
  • Develop and update SOPs; drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain OSHA/USDA/compliance readiness and audit readiness.
  • Lead and support production staff and employee development.
  • Collaborate with managers to meet KPIs and budgets.
  • Support PTO/absences and communicate with leadership.
  • Travel up to 5% annually.

ScheduleMonday to Friday, 7:00am-4:00pmSchedule may vary based on workload and after-hours phone callsAreas of AccountabilityAll areas of accountability to be delivered with GRIT - our values of Generosity, Relationships, Integrity, and TeamworkLeadership & Accountability Employee DevelopmentDaily Facility Operations Quality and Production StandardsStandard Operating Procedures Continuous Improvement & StrategyEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOversee daily operations of facility including production schedules and goals, maintenance, quality, and safety; communicate and problem-solve with department leaders, when necessaryIdentify areas of opportunity and create and update SOPs for all areas of the facilityMaintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety and health policies and proceduresCollaborate with Complex Manager to identify and manage goals, objectives, budgets, and timelines to meet KPIsAssist in overseeing all material handling and processing equipment and make recommendations to increase efficiencyAssist in monitoring quality control processes including raw and final product inspection and investigating customer complaintsProvide guidance, support, and resources to production staff, as neededSupport employee development and growth through new hire stay interviews and quarterly conversations; complete exit interviews, when necessaryDelegate and adjust work activities based on PTO requests and/or unexpected call-insRelay important messages, directions, and policies from the FUI Corporate Office and upper managementParticipate in community outreach activities while upholding a positive company imageMaintain compliance with OSHA, USDA, MPCA, EPA, Department of Agriculture, and local and state agenciesAssist in ensuring the facility is always audit-ready by maintaining paperworkProvide backup support for Complex Manager, Transportation Coordinator, and Foremen, during absencesWork closely with Human Resources on any employee-related situationsMaintain regular and predictable on-site attendanceTravel up to 5%, annuallySituations may arise that require employees to temporarily or permanently assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description. Employees may be requested to work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal workload.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in business management or related field, preferred; or equivalent years of experienceLeadership experience in a manufacturing environment; rendering industry experience, preferredHigh level of verbal and written communication skills with the ability to alter communication style based on audience; bilingual (English/Spanish), preferredProficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPointAbility to create accountability, lead by example, and function as an effective team leader, managing resources according to changing needsStrong team building and decision-making skillsAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalismWillingness to take a hands-on approach and assist in all areas of the facilityAbility to work in a facility that processes multiple species including cows, pigs, and poultryAbility to attain and/or maintain a standard driver’s licensePhysical RequirementsPerform desk work (sitting or standing) for up to 90% of workdayRepetitively use wrist, hand, and/or fingersOccasionally push, pull and/or lift objects up to 50 poundsOccasionally bend at the waist and/or kneesAbility to work safely in wet/slippery conditions and hot/cold environments
