Job summary

Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO) is seeking a Plant Superintendent to lead the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a generating facility. You will provide leadership to plant employees and help ensure generating units are safe, reliable, well maintained, and available when called upon to operate.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with at least six years of related experience, plus minimum three years of supervisory leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise plant employees, including assigning work, monitoring performance, providing feedback and coaching, supporting employee development, and participating in hiring and employee relations activities.
• Plan and oversee power plant operations when the facility is called upon to generate.
• Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of plant equipment, buildings, and grounds.
• Serve as the lead subject matter expert on the practical operation of the facility, recommending best practices that support employee safety, equipment reliability, and long-term asset performance.
• Troubleshoot operational and equipment issues and provide guidance to plant personnel.
• Coordinate plant capital projects with engineering staff and other internal and external resources.
• Assist in developing the plant's operations and maintenance budget and evaluating potential capital projects.
• Prepare and maintain production, operations, maintenance, environmental compliance, and safety reports.
• Promote a strong culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
