Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO) is currently searching for a Plant Superintendent to lead the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a generating facility. This position provides leadership to plant employees and helps ensure generating units are safe, reliable, well maintained, and available when called upon to operate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise plant employees, including assigning work, monitoring performance, providing feedback and coaching, supporting employee development, and participating in hiring and employee relations activities.
- Plan and oversee power plant operations when the facility is called upon to generate.
- Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of plant equipment, buildings, and grounds.
- Serve as the lead subject matter expert on the practical operation of the facility, recommending best practices that support employee safety, equipment reliability, and long-term asset performance.
- Troubleshoot operational and equipment issues and provide guidance to plant personnel.
- Coordinate plant capital projects with engineering staff and other internal and external resources.
- Assist in developing the plant's operations and maintenance budget and evaluating potential capital projects.
- Prepare and maintain production, operations, maintenance, environmental compliance, and safety reports.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of power generation operations and maintenance.
- Minimum of three years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Working knowledge of engineering, chemistry, and accounting principles.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize work and make sound operational decisions.
- Ability to build a cooperative team environment, share knowledge, and support the development of others.
