Job summary

USDA Agricultural Research Service in Hawaii seeks a senior technician to support the Tropical Plant Genetic Resources & Disease Unit in Hilo. The role focuses on collecting, preserving, characterizing, documenting, and distributing subtropical and tropical fruit, nut, and beverage crops.

You will work with the curatorial and research team to manage data and maintain equipment in a laboratory, greenhouse, or field setting. This is a field-forward, hands-on position in a Pacific Basin facility.

Qualifications

• Experience participating in research projects related to plant crops (subtropical or tropical).
• Ability to record data and manage descriptor data in a research setting.
• Experience with laboratory, greenhouse or field work and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, preserving, characterizing, documenting, and distributing subtropical and tropical fruit, nut, and beverage crops.
• Support curatorial and research team in data management and documentation.
• Operate and maintain greenhouse or laboratory equipment as needed.
