Job summary

Johnson Controls Navy Systems in York, PA seeks a Plant Quality Engineer to support welding, fabrication, and assembly areas. You will drive COPQ reduction, first-pass yields, and on-time delivery while coordinating with CI teams and the Material Review Board.

You will develop inspection plans, perform first article reviews, and assist in standard-work revisions to sustain the plant's quality system. A Lean/6-Sigma background is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 2+ years of manufacturing experience in heavy industrial, automotive, aerospace, with metal machining, welding and fabrication.
  • Knowledge and experience in welding NDT inspection methods (MT, PT, VT, UT) a plus.
  • QMS knowledge and experience with ISO 9000, TS 16949, or AS 9100 a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office software, Minitab or other quality data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, process capability, data analysis, measurement systems analysis, GD&T, and blueprint reading skills.
  • Strong planning, organizing, and proven leadership / team building skills.
  • Formal Lean and / or 6-Sigma training with significant demonstrated accomplishments a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, facilitate and lead product quality, process and system improvement teams.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a Plant Quality Engineer to join our federal team at our York, PA location.

This position is responsible for providing day to day quality engineering support within the Grantley Plant facility. Primary support will be the Welding, Fabrication and Assembly Areas. The incumbent will play an integral role in the continued growth and improvement of the JCNS business through achieving first pass yields, increased product flow / throughput, on-time delivery performance, and exceeding customer's expectations.

As a Plant Quality Engineer, you will:

  • Provide technical support to the Grantley Plant.

  • Knowledge and experience in welding NDT inspection methods (MT, PT, VT, UT) a plus
  • QMS knowledge and experience with ISO 9000, TS 16949, or AS 9100 a plus.
  • Proficient in personal computer capabilities in MS Office software, minitab or other quality data analysis tools.
