Job summary

Schaeffler is seeking a Plant Purchasing professional in the US to manage local SAP data for raw materials and support serial production changes. The role requires coordinating with cross-functional teams, external suppliers, and handling daily purchasing topics to ensure timely tooling and material availability.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in supply chain/purchasing, automotive industry exposure, and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• University degree or similar in Economics/Business/Supply Chain/Engineering or relevant professional experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in supply chain / purchasing functions.
• Experience in the automotive industry and coordinating international teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for local data maintenance (in SAP) for raw materials.
• Supports change management for serial production changes and engineering changes on running parts.
• Negotiates changes with suppliers in alignment with category management.
• Supports replacement process for supplier tooling and tooling orders.
• Maintains Supplier Tooling Database for mechanical and plastic parts.
• Represents purchasing in audits (external and internal).
• Manages credit holds with suppliers for late or unpaid invoices.
• Supports escalation management of major supplier quality problems with Quality teams.
• Ensures ramp up of new products and on-time ordering of supplier tooling.
• Ensures budget availability and cross-functional alignment on tooling and materials.
