Job summary

Penn State Lady Lions seeks two part-time Undergraduate Research Assistants to support the Global Change Pathology Laboratory.

Responsibilities include preparing microbiological media, bacterial culturing, inoculum prep, plant inoculations, disease assessment, basic molecular biology, growth chamber experiments, and data organization. Training provided; reliable, detail-oriented students with prior lab experience preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree with interest in plant pathology or microbiology.
• Ability to follow written protocols and maintain accurate records.
• Willingness to learn laboratory and plant research techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepare microbiological media and materials.
• Culture and maintain bacteria; prepare inoculum and perform plant inoculations.
• Conduct disease assessment and basic molecular biology procedures.
• Run growth chamber experiments and organize samples/data.
