POSITION SUMMARY:

Florida Medical Center is seeking a highly organized and proactive Life Safety Coordinator to support the daily functions of our Plant Operations department. This role is essential in helping ensure smooth operations across facility systems while maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, a hands-on approach to problem-solving, and a foundational understanding of regulatory standards in healthcare environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the Plant Operations team, including scheduling, reporting, and coordinating routine and preventive maintenance activities.
  2. Establish and maintain up-to-date records of all applicable state, federal, and local regulations.
  3. Assist in the development, tracking, and documentation of facility work orders, service contracts, and vendor performance.
  4. Support the preparation and organization of regulatory documentation to ensure readiness for inspections and surveys.
  5. Collaborate with department leadership to monitor progress on facility improvement projects and compliance-related initiatives.
  6. Participate in facility rounds, inspections, and audit preparations to help identify and address operational or safety concerns.
  7. Coordinate training logistics and maintain department records related to safety, compliance, and equipment performance.
  8. Serve as a liaison between Plant Operations and other hospital departments to ensure timely communication and resolution of facility-related issues.
  9. Stay informed on industry best practices and regulatory updates to support continuous improvement and operational readiness.

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform duties and conduct interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Work with supervisor/manager and other members of the section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensure that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians, and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful, and considerate manner. Answer telephones promptly and courteously. Display concern and provide assistance or explain procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicate efforts to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Work with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education, and job knowledge/experience):

  • Degree in healthcare administration, engineering, facilities management, or a related field preferred, but not required; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in healthcare facility operations, maintenance, or an administrative support role.
  • Familiarity with The Joint Commission, AHCA, OSHA, and other relevant regulatory agencies.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CMMS or facilities management software.
