Qualifications

Job description

Job Description

Operates and maintains a 20 million gallon/day surface water treatment facility, along with four treated water pumping, storage, and metering facilities, five elevated storage tanks, and raw water intake and booster stations. Performs various laboratory tests and analyses to ensure effective operation of the facility and distribution system.

Pay and Incentives

Starting Pay is based on Water Certificate of Competency license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ):

  • Receive C License, 5% increase
  • Receive B License, 7% increase

Hiring Incentive: As a new hire, you'll receive a $1,000 hiring incentive, paid in a lump sum with your first full paycheck after joining our team.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor all processing equipment and machinery; maintain computerized operational control of storage tanks, booster stations, pump stations, and metering stations; initiate operational changes based on calculations and monitoring.
  • Maintain quality processing records, including water flows, chemical dosages, laboratory analyses, and other operational data.
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of buildings, structures, and equipment, including pumps and gear units.
  • Conduct laboratory tests such as pH, alkalinity, chlorine residuals, fluoride residuals, turbidity, jar tests, and chlorine demand; calibrate test equipment.
  • Respond to hazardous chemical leaks, utilizing appropriate safety gear.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend emergency response for public service issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: At least 1 year in water treatment, electrical, mechanical, technical, or utility construction.

Equivalent combinations of education, experience, certifications, and licenses are acceptable.

Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of: Basic chemistry and math principles.

Ability to: Accept responsibility, follow safety instructions, work punctually, communicate effectively, learn water treatment processes, perform repairs, respond to emergencies, climb tanks and towers, operate foot controls, endure environmental conditions, and distinguish colors.

Skills: Proficiency with computers, including MS Office and email.

Special Requirements
  • Pass pre-employment drug test, medical exam, and assessment.
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License and good driving record.
  • Obtain Class D Water Certificate within 6 months; Class C within 2 years.
  • Preference for candidates with water treatment trainee experience or existing Class C or B Water Certificates.
