Job summary

Pattison Company is hiring a Bluff Plant Operator for the Clayton, Iowa site. The Bluff Plant produces a super-fine 100 mesh sand, dried and loaded for distribution.

The role involves operating processing and drying equipment, monitoring controls, data entry, and proactive maintenance to minimize downtime. Responsibilities include data collection, quality checks, safety compliance, and collaboration with a team to meet production goals.

Qualifications

• Physically operate heavy equipment.
• Stand for 6-12 hours on uneven, sandy, and rocky surfaces.
• Work up to 12-hour shifts.
• Climb on and off equipment and ladders.
• Work at heights.
• Wear a half-mask respirator for extended periods.
• Lift 60 to 80 pounds without mechanical assistance.
• Work in damp, dimly lit, and confined work areas.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate knowledge of process equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for communication and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Operate plant processing and drying equipment, including conveyors, rotary dryers, and loadout systems.
• Maintain a safe and efficient work environment while meeting or exceeding processing and quality standards.
• Operate and maintain a wheel loader.
• Collect and analyze data quickly and accurately to make process adjustments and improvements as needed.
• Work collaboratively within a team and take on new responsibilities as assigned.
• Assist in daily coordination of production and maintenance activities.
• Ensure all production data, inspections, and shift logs are completed accurately.
• Comply with all company, local, state, and federal safety regulations.
