Job description

Position Summary:

This position operates Sand Classification Plants or similar equipment and assists in the daily functions of the mine. Must be knowledgeable in maintenance, repair, and operation of sand plant related systems. Utilizes knowledge of all products to perform Quality Control. Will be required to become DOT certified for sampling and testing products produced by the plant and enter results into AGG.QC database.

Employee will most likely be required to work long extended hours, shift work (days, afternoons, or nights), and weekend shifts, as required.

This position will also perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks as directed by the immediate supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  1. Actively promote E.R. Jahna’s Core Values of Safety, People, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  2. Responsible for the safe and proper daily operation of the Sand Plant and related equipment.
  3. Maintain constant communication.
  4. Monitor equipment operation to maximize productivity and ensure quality products are being produced.
  5. Perform routine inspection and assist in preventative maintenance on equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to immediate supervisor.
  6. Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate safety, environmental and security standards.

Qualifications & Education Requirements:

  1. High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
  2. Trade or Technical schooling a plus.
  3. Two (2) years of experience relating to operation of a sand plant preferred.
  4. Preventative Maintenance and “hands on” work experience.
  5. Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  6. Welding and torch cutting skills a plus.
  7. Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  8. Become familiar with assigned equipment and recognize potential maintenance problems by sight and sound and inform supervisory personnel.
  9. Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  10. Knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance, operation and repair activities of a sand plant.
  11. Skilled in the operation of hand tools and small power tools.
  12. Ability to perform manual tasks for extended periods of time; to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, contractors, and managers; and to understand and carry out written and oral instruction.
  13. Basic record keeping skills.
  14. Computer skills, enter data and interpret data, read, and respond to emails.
  15. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is continually required to walk, sit, climb, or balance, and occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, listen and smell.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee most likely be required at times to work long extended hours, shift work (days, afternoons, or nights), and weekend shifts.

Must be able to climb up and down a ladder up or stairways to height of 30 +/- feet.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outside and inside the control room and quality control lab, but most of the time works outside in adverse weather conditions. The employee frequently works near loud moving mechanical parts, frequently exposed to wet, hot and/or humid conditions, and exposed to vibration. Also, the employee continually works around water.

Employees must follow all safety guidelines throughout designated shift. Must wear minimum 6″ steel toe boots, safety vest, eye protection, hard hat and additional PPE as required.

Benefits, Pay, and Schedule:

Pay Rate: Rate could vary dependent upon experience. Shift differential pay for nights and weekends.

Schedule: Employee will most likely be required to work long extended hours, shift work (days, afternoons, or nights), and weekend shifts, as required.

Lunch/breaks: As time permits during shift, does not have a designated break time during shift.
