Job summary

Airgas is hiring a Plant Operator (Night) in Augusta, GA to load, weigh, and package dry ice products for customer orders. You will inspect quality, operate production equipment, and log production data with care. Must be 21+, have a high school diploma or GED, and be comfortable working nights on a 7pm–7am schedule.

Qualifications

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, commissions, proportions, and percent.
  • One year experience in a production/manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Loading & Packaging: weigh and pack dry ice products per customer orders.
  • Quality Assurance: inspect finished products for weight, density and packaging integrity.
  • Equipment Operation: safely operate production machinery and forklifts/pallet jacks.
  • Documentation: accurately log production numbers, shipping manifests, and inventory usage.
  • Work Environment: wear PPE and follow safety protocols; 85% production, 15% office data entry.

Compensation and Schedule

Pay: $22-24

Schedule: 7pm- 7am

Responsibilities
  • Loading & Packaging: Perform the daily loading, weighing, and packaging of dry ice products into various containers (blocks, pellets, slices) based on customer orders.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect all finished products to ensure they meet the company’s strict quality standards regarding weight, density, and packaging integrity.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate production machinery and material handling equipment (such as forklifts or pallet jacks) safely and efficiently.
  • Documentation: Accurate logging of production numbers, shipping manifests, and inventory usage.
  • Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 85% in the production area (i.e. warm in summer, cool in winter). Hazards require the use of personal protective equipment (i.e. hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes). Dry ice is extremely cold, and therefore requires that gloves be worn when directly handling dry ice. 15% office work to provide data entry.
