St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Plant Operator I for our well-established Utility Department headquartered in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida.

This position involves participating in the daily operation of a wastewater treatment plant. The county maintains 24-hour staffing, and employees will work shifts as assigned.
The role includes plant operation duties within a regulated environment, contributing to safe drinking water provision. Contacts are mainly with county staff, vendors, regulatory agencies, and the public, to provide services, exchange information, or resolve issues.

Candidates for the Plant Operator Trainee position must meet similar but slightly less stringent requirements, including obtaining the Class “C” license within two years of hire.
