At LCRA, we are seeking an ambitious candidate for our open Plant Operator I position! This entry-level role involves assisting plant operations staff in monitoring and isolating equipment, operating switchgear/breakers, and troubleshooting. The position is based in a coal-fired power plant environment, offering opportunities for skill development through structured work assignments and formal training programs. You Will Be Trusted To
  • Monitor and operate equipment in your assigned area after completing training.
  • Isolate and tag out equipment for maintenance following procedures.
  • Recognize and report abnormal equipment conditions based on operating parameters.
  • Complete logs and reports as instructed.
  • Assist maintenance and controls departments during outages.
  • Perform rounds to monitor operating equipment.

Note: Incumbents at FPP and Lost Pines will participate in operator training. Those at Fayette Power Project may assist with plant and fuel yard operations, handling mechanical and electrical systems related to coal processing, and other maintenance tasks.

You Qualify With
  • Experience in power plant or coal yard equipment inspection, monitoring, and maintenance, including system isolation and tagging.
  • Driver's license.
You Are a Great Fit With
  • Basic knowledge of power plant operations, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
  • Understanding of LOTO procedures, effective communication skills, and a commitment to safety and environmental standards.
  • Ability to follow procedures and safety regulations.
