POSITION SUMMARY

The Plant Operator position involves assisting with various semi-skilled duties around production facilities. Responsibilities include lubricating machinery, shoveling spillage areas, monitoring plant conveyors, shakers, crushers, feeders, and pumps, and inspecting the plant daily.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Proactive in safety and works well in a team environment
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently following training and manufacturer instructions
• Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations
• Perform pre-shift safety inspections on systems, equipment, and accessories
• Perform preventative maintenance and service equipment
• Inspect equipment and report needed repairs
• Assist in plant maintenance and repairs
• Maintain good housekeeping of plant and equipment
• Perform duties with minimal supervision
• Assist with operation of other equipment as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
• Plant experience is a plus
• Experience with a variety of hand tools

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed
• Ability to read equipment operating manuals
• Complete pre-shift inspection reports
• Read and interpret gauges
• Basic mathematical skills for daily reports
• Wear all required safety equipment
• Communicate via CB radio or hand signals regarding vehicle and equipment movement
• Perform duties safely
• Be service-oriented and work well in a team environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Wear hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection
• Work at various heights, including climbing stairs up to 100 ft.
• Climb on and off equipment for operation and maintenance
• Bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 45 lbs
• Walk on steep or rough terrain
• Use hand tools and operate communication devices
• Good hand/eye coordination and operation of hand/foot controls
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and dusty or noisy environments

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work may involve outdoor assignments in all weather conditions, with noise levels up to 85 dB.
