Job summary

Nucor Corporation seeks a diligent technician to monitor and optimize plant operations at its Darlington, SC site. You will perform rounds, readouts, calibrations and document variances to ensure safe, efficient production and compliance with quality standards.

Ideal candidates bring a high school diploma or GED, plus experience with electrical/instrumentation in process environments. Family with safety culture and ability to work in a team are valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Associate’s degree or technical certification preferred.
• Relevant military, industrial gas/cryogenics, or continuous process facilities experience.
• General knowledge of electrical and instrumentation equipment in process plant environments.

Responsibilities

• Actively monitor and assess plant performance for efficiency, safety, and reliability.
• Conduct rounds surveying plant operations, grounds and equipment.
• Take readings on critical systems and document abnormalities for action.
• Use calibration standards and related equipment and perform routine calibrations.
• Read drawings, P&IDs and manuals to support operations and maintenance.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

What You’ll Do

• Actively monitor and assess plant performance to ensure optimal efficiency, functionality, and safety standards.
• Conduct rounds, surveying plant operations, grounds, and equipment.
• Take readings on critical systems, observe functionality, and document any abnormalities for corrective action.
• Use calibration standards and related equipment, including inspection, testing, and measurement tools, as well as calibration gas cylinders.
• Perform routine analytical calibrations and adjustments.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, P&ID's, manuals, and documentation to support plant operations and maintenance.
• Safely execute planned maintenance tasks, ensuring equipment and systems are functioning optimally and safely.
• Ensure adherence to FDA/QMS(Quality Management System) compliance programs, following cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices), applicable procedures, and UIG's internal quality systems.

What You’ll Need
