Plant Operator / Backup Delivery Driver (CDL B)

Location: Appleton, WI - Filling industrial

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Plant Operator is responsible for safely operating equipment for handling and producing packaged gas cylinders, including high pressure and liquefied gases.

The Delivery Driver, as the "face of Airgas," safely and efficiently delivers compressed gas cylinders to customers using company vehicles. This role involves loading, unloading, delivering, and returning cylinders, with frequent customer interaction.

Job Responsibilities

• Load and unload gas cylinders using proper carts.
• Sort empty cylinders by type.
• Operate forklifts and roll cylinders.
• Understand hazards, read labels, and accurately label cylinders.
• Handle high-pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders; prepare cylinders for filling.
• Perform cylinder maintenance and inspections following safety standards.
• Manage paperwork in compliance with DOT, OSHA, FDA, and company standards.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Deliver cylinders to customer sites, record deliveries, and handle empty cylinders.
• Establish good customer relations and resolve inquiries.
• Ensure vehicle safety through pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Follow all safety regulations and report incidents promptly.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of manufacturing or loading experience preferred.
• Strong safety, gas, welding, or chemical industry background preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read safety and operational documents.
• Detail-oriented and able to operate a forklift safely.
• Valid Class B Driver’s License with relevant driving experience and a clean record.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid Medical Examiner’s Card.
• Hazmat & Airbrake Certifications (or ability to obtain).
