Job description

Job Title: Plant Operator

Our WIN Waste Innovations facility is seeking a confident and enthusiastic Plant Operator responsible for maintaining safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient boiler operations. This includes managing boiler combustion, steam flows, optimizing power generation, burnout, in-plant power combustion, and controlling flue gas emissions. The role involves monitoring operational and emissions data, responding to changing plant conditions to maximize safety, compliance, and efficiency, and coordinating with plant personnel.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May lead, guide, and direct 2-5 employees to ensure safety and operational efficiency. May act as Shift Supervisor upon request.

Required Education and Experience:

• At least two years of experience in a power plant environment as an Assistant Plant Operator or similar role, or five years of related experience and training.
• Mechanical skills for tasks such as replacing shear pins, valve repacking, and inspections.
• Ability to acquire an ASME QRO Provisional license.
• Math skills sufficient for job functions.
• Knowledge of steam power plant operation and control.
• For Massachusetts facilities, a 2nd Class Engineers license is required.

Physical Demands:

• Climb and walk on heights greater than 4 feet.
• Ascend/descend stairs and ladders.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Operate fire hoses, extinguishers, and mobile equipment.
• Access confined spaces through standard manways.

Work Environment:

• Noise and physical demands typical of plant operations.
• Work includes standing, sitting, walking, handling tools, reaching, climbing, and working at heights and uneven surfaces.

PPE Requirements:

• Use of respirators, hardhats, safety shoes, eye protection, gloves, harnesses, and specialized suits as needed.
