Job summary

Accutrans is seeking a Facility Service Operator to perform loading/unloading at refinery/terminal locations in Port Arthur, TX. You will connect/disconnect tanker trucks, rail cars, ships, or barges and operate related equipment at customer facilities.

The role requires passing a pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screen, holding a valid driver license and TWIC, and meeting stamina and safety requirements to handle heavy tasks and climb stairs or ladders as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver license and reliable transportation.
  • TWIC card is required for access to facility.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screen.
  • Sufficient stamina to lift up to 60 lbs and perform tasks safely.
  • Ability to climb 8–10 ft stairs or ladders for gauging trucks.
  • Color vision and depth perception to recognize coded components.
  • Hearing ability to detect alarms and unusual machinery noises.
  • Strong reading/writing and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Spot, connect, and disconnect tanker trucks, rail cars, cargo ships or barges for loading or unloading.
  • Monitor loading/unloading of liquids and bulk cargos.
  • Monitor and operate shore side flare or vapor destruction unit.
  • Open/close valves for transfers between shore tanks and transportation modes.
  • Obtain certifications and operate fork lifts and shore side cranes.
  • Operate locomotive and perform in-plant rail car switching.
  • Clean and clear shore side pipelines and hoses for cargos.
  • Perform light plant maintenance including housekeeping and lawn tasks as requested.
  • Fill in at other facilities and call-out docks as needed.
  • Maintain Area Safety Council training and participate in safety meetings.
  • Follow all company and site safety guidelines.

Job Summary

Our Facility Service Operators perform a variety of duties at refinery and terminal customer locations including connecting/disconnect tanker trucks, rail cars, cargo ships or barges for loading or unloading liquid or bulk cargos and light facility maintenance. This position reports to their area's corresponding office and works out of a customer facility.

Key Job Responsibilities in Refinery and / or Terminal Operations:
  • Spot, connect, disconnect Tanker Trucks, Rail Cars, Cargo Ships or Barges for loading or unloading liquid or bulk cargos
  • Monitor the loading or unloading of Tanker Trucks, Rail Cars, Cargo Ships, or Barges
  • Monitor and Operate Shore Side Flare or VDU (vapor destruction unit)
  • Open and close valves throughout the facility for transfers to or from shore tanks to tanker trucks, or rail cars or boarding cargo ships and barges
  • Obtain certifications and operate fork lifts and shore side cranes
  • Operate locomotive along with working the ground for In-Plant rail car switching
  • Clear and clean shore side pipelines and hoses for various liquid cargos
  • Perform light plant maintenance up to and including housekeeping and lawn services as requested
  • Fill in as needed at other facilities and call-out docks
  • Maintain current Area Safety Council Training and participate in company and customer safety meetings
  • Adhere to company and facility specific safety guidelines
QualificationsQualifications and Skills
  • Valid Driver License and transportation

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, Drug and Alcohol screen
  • Must have the physical stamina to climb, lift, carry and pull on fueling hoses of 60 pounds to complete the task & still have the foresight to recognize when assistance is needed.
  • Ability to climb 8-10 foot stairways and / or ladders for gauging trucks.
  • Must possess color vision and depth perception sufficient to recognize color-coded objects such as electrical components, navigation lights, hazardous cargo placards, warning signals, and valves.
  • Must be capable of hearing alarms, unusual noises in operating machinery, and signals from boat or personnel by radio, telephone, or voice communicator.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively.
