Summary

This position is responsible for analyzing, planning, installing, evaluating, certifying and correcting mechanical system malfunctions.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain Chiller Plant equipment including but not limited to chillers, chilled water pumps, condensing water pumps, cooling towers and all associate equipment (e.g. pumps, motor, gear boxes, fill material, risers, cold water basin, heat exchangers, chiller tube cleaning, make‑up water system, water chemistry testing & treatment, controls, variable frequency drives, etc.).
  • Operate and maintain Boiler Plant equipment including but not limited to steam boilers, hot water boilers (domestic water heaters), deaerator tank, boiler feed tank, boiler feed pumps, water softeners, make‑water system, steam traps, heat exchangers, condensate system, water chemistry testing & treatment and all associated equipment (e.g. pumps, motor, gear boxes, controls, variable frequency drives, etc.).
  • Operate and maintain facility HVAC systems and equipment to include but not limited to air handling units, fan coil units, split systems, humidifiers, exhaust fans, VAV boxes, DX units, Liebert units, and all associated equipment (e.g. fans, compressors, refrigerant, controls, pneumatic control systems, HVAC control valves, electric motors, pneumatic control systems, etc.). Must be able to perform testing and balancing of HVAC systems.
  • Assist in the repair and maintenance of complex piping systems to include steam piping (replacing steam valves, installation of condensate pumps, steam leaks, etc.), chilled water piping and valves.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems, fire/smoke damper repairs, OR support (temperature, pressure, humidity), and general hot/cold call support.
  • Maintain environmental temperatures and air balance.
  • Accomplish and document preventive maintenance.
  • Perform other job duties and special projects as required.
Work Experience
  • At least 3 years related experience in one of the following: Boiler Operation and Maintenance, Chiller/Chilled Water Operation and Maintenance, HVAC Systems, or Pipe Fitting (Required).
  • At least 7 years related experience in one of the following: Boiler Operation and Maintenance, Chiller/Chilled Water Operation and Maintenance, HVAC Systems, or Pipe Fitting (Preferred).
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience (Preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
  • HVAC Technician Certification and Universal EPA License (Preferred).
  • Stationary Engineer License, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade (Preferred).
  • Pipe Fitting Certification (Preferred).
  • Chilled Water Certification (Preferred).
