Smith College is looking for a power plant operator to safely perform various functions on an assigned shift in maintaining and operating the power facility. Candidates should possess a current Massachusetts Second Class Fireman’s License and relevant experience. This position works a rotating 8-hour shift schedule.
Under the direction of the chief engineer or designee, the power plant operator is responsible for safely performing a variety of functions on an assigned shift, including assisting in the preparation of boilers, turbines, and equipment for inspection, cleaning boilers, tanks, and breeching areas, and making necessary repairs or replacements to pipes and boiler insulation.
