Archaea Energy, a bp company, is a leader in landfill gas to energy and the largest renewable natural gas (RNG) producer in the US. We develop, construct, and operate RNG, landfill-gas-to-electric, and dairy digester facilities, operating around 50 sites across 32 states with a robust development pipeline.

About the role

This is an entry-level position in the Power Plant Operator Advancement Program. The individual will participate in bp's training program, learning to perform general operational duties under close supervision. Advancement to Plant Operator II depends on gaining experience and meeting higher-level requirements.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 7 am - 3 pm, with rotating weekends for morning checks. The role requires on-call availability 24/7 on a rotating basis. Schedule may change based on business needs.

Key accountabilities
  1. Observe plant equipment operation and identify developing problems.
  2. Assist in preventive and minor corrective maintenance on engines, blowers, and related equipment.
  3. Record operating data such as hours, production, and fuel usage using computers.
  4. Learn troubleshooting and report abnormalities.
  5. Handle fuel transfer and sampling per spill plan guidelines.
  6. Maintain plant appearance and assist in repairs of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components.
  7. Use hand and power tools for maintenance tasks.
Essential education

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Essential experience
  • Flexible work hours and on-call duties.
  • Ability to interpret manuals and troubleshoot plant equipment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver’s license, background check, hearing, and drug test required.
Desirable criteria
  • Technical certifications or training are a plus.

Additional Information

Travel up to 25%. Not eligible for relocation or remote work.
