Job summary

Airgas in Kingsport, TN is seeking a Plant Operator to join our manufacturing team. The role involves examining, testing, filling, and weighing cylinders, while adhering to safety standards and regulatory requirements.

You will operate facility equipment, perform routine maintenance, and keep precise records for production tracking. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred plant operations experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work safely

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in industrial operations is a plus.
  • Previous experience in plant operations or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; adapt to changing priorities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, test, fill, and weigh gas cylinders per policy and regulations.
  • Operate and maintain equipment in the production facility: compressors, pumps, filling stations, and forklifts.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance; address issues promptly.
  • Safely handle and transport cylinders with quality checks and safety compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, cylinder tracking, and production activities.
  • Collaborate with the team to keep a clean and organized work environment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols; participate in safety meetings and training.
