Job Description
Position Summary Description
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Shady Hills Energy Center in accordance with approved plant operating procedure. The Plant Operations Technician I/II may be assigned duties in the Control Room or as an outside operator. Plant Operations Technician I/II must maintain Control Room Operator qualifications. Performs operating duties, rounds, and checks of assigned plant equipment. Makes the necessary equipment adjustments within their direct control, performs other related work, and assists employees as needed. Helps train employees in their job requirements and duties. Performs basic maintenance tasks as needed and required.
WORK LOCATION: Shady Hills Energy Center in Spring Hill, FL.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a formal, accredited, or certified maintenance craft training program, or related military or industrial setting experience is desirable. Additional college level coursework in math and science desirable. Prior Control Room Operations experience is desirable for Technician I-level and required for Technician II-level. Prior Combined Cycle experience is desirable. Must be able to refer to and understand technical and operating manuals. Additional requirements to be eligible for Technician II-level: completion of Plant Operations Technician I, II and assigned maintenance craft qualification standards as well as two (2) years of power plant Control Room Operation experience is required. Ability to qualify and maintain competency in the following skill areas is required:

Essential Functions
Physical Requirements
Must be able to follow established protective measures including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report. Work at heights over 250 feet and in confined areas. Must be able to safely lift objects of 60 lbs. Required to perform job tasks while wearing protective clothing, air purified respirators, and self-contained breathing apparatus. Manual labor is required. Must be able to ascend and descend stationary and portable ladders.
Working Conditions
While working in certain areas of the plant there is the potential for exposure to hazards typical of an industrial working environment. Required to work overtime hours upon request. Required to work various schedules including a rotating shift schedule and weekends. Required to work in areas of high noise, dusty conditions, extreme temperatures, high voltage, and high fluid pressures. Required to perform outside duties under adverse weather conditions. Required to use emergency response equipment in emergencies and for training. Required to work with and around chemicals. Expected to participate in plant training, as required.
