Job summary

U.S. Silica is seeking an Operations Supervisor to guide hourly workforce and oversee plant operations on the AM shift in Ottawa, IL. You will plan and schedule production and mining activities to meet goals while controlling costs.

Responsibilities include directing work, coordinating downtime, communicating issues to the Operations Manager, and supporting safety plans. You will supervise plant operators and participate in interviews and disciplinary actions as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and/or combination education and on-the-job experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of in similar capacity preferably in mining.
• Experience supervising in a union environment preferred.
• Prior experience supervising in a manufacturing environment, mining industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the production lines or areas by planning and directing work to assigned crews while ensuring production and quality specifications are met safely and efficiently
• Plan and schedule necessary downtime with production departments
• Communicate production issues to Operations Manager and identify areas for improvement
• Supervise plant operators and ensure work is completed as assigned, participate in the interview selection process, recommend disciplinary actions and resolve minor employee relations issues
• Assist the Operations Manager with the development and execution of safety plans
• Performs administrative duties required to meet job goals including planning, scheduling and reporting
• Follow and promote all safety regulations and report any hazardous conditions immediately
• Assist Operations Manager to ensure development and execution of production activities as outlined within the operations plan
