Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for a full-time, day-shift with on-call rotation. The role involves ensuring Life Safety Code compliance across federal, state, and local regulations, following policies, and assisting with various maintenance tasks.

You will support safety programs, OSHA standards, and the Emergency Preparedness Plan, while also maintaining the facility grounds and coordinating with outside vendors when needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensures Life Safety Code Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Follows department policies and procedures manuals.
• Assists with preventative and unplanned maintenance and repair (painting, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, electrical).
• Ensures outside vendors complete work per contracts/work orders.
• Supports Fire Safety Program compliance, drills, safety training, oxygen safety, electrical safety.
• Supports OSHA standards and Emergency Preparedness Plan compliance.
• Maintains community grounds (mowing, trimming, snow removal, debris removal).
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities for Maintenance Assistant

• Helps ensure the facility remains in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations for Life Safety Code Compliance.
• Follows the department's policies and procedures manuals.
• Assists with preventative and unplanned maintenance and repair activities in the facility, which includes painting, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and electrical work.
• Helps ensure that services are performed by outside vendors are properly completed/supervised in accordance with contracts/work orders.
• Helps ensure the facility's Fire Safety Program complies with the current Life Safety Code and Health Care Facilities Code(s). Including but not limited to fire and disaster drills, training on the facilities fire safety plan, safe use of oxygen, electrical safety, etc.
• Helps ensure facility's compliance with multiple OSHA standards and the facility's Emergency Preparedness Plan.
• Assists with maintaining community grounds including but not limited to mowing, weed-eating, edging, removal of debris, trimming bushes/trees, snow removal, etc.
• Other duties as assigned
